Successful weekend at unique Eastbourne Motorshow

Billed as the only new car Motorshow of it's kind in the UK this year, the 11th Eastbourne Motorshow took place on 11th and 12th July at Sussex Downs College in Eastbourne.

The event, which boasted hundreds of new cars, motorbikes, motorhomes, commercial vehicles and electric vehicles was attended by thousands of local motoring enthusiasts and drivers looking for the latest technology and best deals.

A strong theme this year was 'green' technology, with Main Arena events spotlighting the best environmentally friendly forms of transport. Show host Mike Brewer launched the brand new Toyota Prius on the Saturday morning on behalf of Yeomans Toyota and their stand was busy all weekend with enquiries on the hybrid model. The Eco Garage, who were displaying for the first time, showed their range of electric vehicles specially designed for city motoring and the likes of Caffyns Volvo, Caffyns Volkswagen, Chandlers BMW and Mini, Birchwood Ford and Skoda, Eastbourne Daihatsu, Eastbourne Audi, Culverwells Subaru Isuzu SsangYong, Collins Honda and Lifestyle Renault and Mazda all had eco-friendly models on display which proved very popular with visitors.

MG returned to the show after a four year gap, much to the delight of many local drivers. Local dealership Sterling Automotive displayed the MG TF LE 500 and hope to show an expanded range at next summer's event.

Show host, Mike Brewer, was delighted with the turn out at the Motorshow and at the efforts that all the exhibitors had made. The railings were packed for all of the Main Arena new vehicle cavalcades throughout the weekend and both the Topless Car Challenge and the MPV Challenge showed that the exhibitors have a great sense of humour! Mike commented "It's amazing that this is the only show of it's kind in the UK this year as you can see from the crowds how much everyone is enjoying this. I got to speak to a lot of the exhibitors on Sunday morning and they have all sold cars over the weekend, so there's a lot of happy visitors out there who have managed to grab a great bargain at the show. I am really looking forward to coming back next year for my third Eastbourne Motorshow."

Show sponsors, Friday-Ad, put together a great Play Area for children featuring giant jenga, giant connect 4, face painting, beat the goalie, bouncy castle, giant slide and tons of free giveaways. Best of all there was unlimited entry to the Play Area for a credit crunch-beating £1 and the area was packed all weekend. Show organisers Motorshow Events and the exhibitors all commented on what a great job Friday-Ad had done again in promoting the Motorshow both through their papers and online at www.friday-ad.co.uk.

Sovereign Radio 107.5 were also at the show, broadcasting all the action as it happened and helping out with the events.

Peter Collins, chairman of the Eastbourne Franchised Motor Dealers Association, was delighted with the event, especially after the hard start to the year for the motor industry. "It's great to see so many local dealerships participating and particularly encouraging to hear how many people have been buying cars at the show. The Eastbourne Motorshow is unique and provides a great way for local car buyers to see all the vehicles available in one place and to have a good day out at the same time."
